How long after driving should I wait to do an oil change?

Just got home after driving on the highway for about an hour. I'd like to do an oil change today before it's dark. How long should I wait before the oil is cool enough that it won't be dangerous to change it? If it makes a difference the car is a '92 Buick Regal with the 3.8. Thanks.
