Scotch similar to Chivas Regal?

So I'm getting my girl's dad a gift.... he is a big fan of Chivas Regal and its all he ever drinks aside from beer. I want to get him a scotch or whiskey similar to or better than Chivas. I'm a Jameson guy but my girl says he doesn't like it. He drinks his Chivas straight up. So any suggestions? By the way, there is a reason I don't want to get him Chivas, and its a good one, but don't feel like delving into it here, so no comments about 'just get him what he likes' please. Thanks in advance!
